Involved in surf science since 2005, Ed is a collaborator with the Surfbreak Protection Society in New Zealand and specialises in preserving marine resources and adapting to climate change.

Born in Porto, João is a reference in Portuguese surfing, national champion and representative in international competitions. Today, he's an ambassador for Norte Surf Fest, seeks out the biggest waves and makes surfing a lifestyle.

Born in Rio de Janeiro in 1967, Júlio is a journalist specialising in surfing and has been a columnist for over 30 years in Brazil and Portugal. He currently presents the ‘Boia’ podcast.

Has a PhD in Veterinary Sciences and focuses on holistic and preventive medicine. Collaborates with CEiiA on the creation of biometric systems for performance optimisation.

Liliana Mendonça

Doctor

Founder of The Wave wave pool in Bristol, Nick is an international figure in surfing and a director of the English Surfing Federation, with a focus on growing the parasurfing community.

Surfer and Entrepeneur

One of the best-known surf writers in the world. A former champion surfer, Nick was an editor of Tracks magazine in Australia and Western Empire in California. Today, he is the Editorial Director of Surfline in Australia.

Surf Journalist and Editor

Oceanographer and leader of the coastal risks team at CoLAB +ATLANTIC, with a focus on forecasting extreme events and the impacts of climate change. Stands out for his BigWavTracker project on the giant waves of Nazaré.

A legend in world surf journalism with over 40 years' experience, Sam is the editor of major magazines and the producer of iconic films. One of surfing's great global thinkers.

Surf Journalist

French surfer and journalist, founder of ‘Surf Session’ magazine and editor of ‘The Surfer's Journal’. He is also co-founder of the Surfrider Foundation Europe and author of several books on surfing.

A moment of unity and socialisation, a surfing event aimed at fostering closer ties between surf schools and promoting the exchange of knowledge and experiences between participants.

Starting from the first recorded expressions of sliding the ocean waves, this exhibition allows visitors to follow the evolution of surfing throughout history, emphasising the key moments and characters in this process, the socio-political context of each era, and the development of surfing in the world and in Portugal, with particular attention to the north of the country.
