This year, Norte Surf Fest will once again be the stage for an attempt to break the World Record for the highest number of people surfing the same wave at the same time — a record currently held by South Africa with 110 surfers.
Breaking a World Record might seem tough, but with the spirit and determination of Northern surfers, nothing is impossible.

Talks on Sustainability, Technology and Innovation, History and Culture, and Overcoming Challenges through Surfing, featuring some of the leading opinion leaders and international experts in their respective fields.

Special tickets with the opportunity to earn 3 Credit Units from IPDJ for the renewal of the Sports Coach License, with the support of Biosphere Portugal.

Emi Koch is a social ecologist, transmedia artist, and National Geographic Explorer. A former professional surfer, she founded the NGO Coast 2 Coast, which transforms the lives of young people in fishing communities through surfing and education.

Manager of the Vestas Technology Centre, he holds a degree in Aerospace Engineering from IST, with around 20 years of international experience divided between motor racing and renewable energy.

Pedro Pastilha

CEO and co-founder of Surf Park Central, the global hub for the wave pool industry, he was also a pioneer in researching the sustainability of surf tourism. He founded the Center for Surf Research at San Diego State University and STOKE Certified.

He was twice world surfing champion (1983 and 1984) and was the first goofy footer to become world champion. Three-time Pipe Masters champion, he marked the 1980s with a radical and powerful style.

Tom Carroll

Big wave surfer and environmental activist, he was the first European to qualify for the WSL Big Wave Championship Tour, reaching the Top 5 in 2012/2013 and surfing the biggest wave of his career in Nazaré in 2022.

João Macedo

It is one of the greatest stories of overcoming adversity in world surfing. At the age of 13, he lost his arm in a shark attack, but returned to surfing just one month later and, in less than two years, won his first national title.

Bethany Hamilton

Recognized by Forbes 30 Under 30 and the Olympic Channel, she is India's first professional surfer. Co-founder of Shaka Surf Club, she has been a pioneer in promoting surfing, raising ocean awareness, and inspiring new generations to challenge social norms and connect with the sea.

An Invitational-format competition for respected personalities from the local surf scene, invited by the organization. A moment of unity and camaraderie — a surf contest designed to promote a spirit of sharing among local surfers.

Praia de Leça da Palmeira

Training, awareness, and educational initiatives on water safety and prevention, highlighting the vital role of the surfing community in saving lives on Portuguese beaches. A project developed by the Portuguese Surf Schools Association in partnership with the Institute for Lifesaving.

Matosinhos beachfront

A photo exhibition dedicated to the theme “Waves of the North”, with open submissions to the public. The best images of waves captured in the Northern region will be selected to feature in the exhibition. During the event, visitors will be able to vote for their favorite photographs, with the most voted images receiving prizes.

OC4 Surfing Challenge

Outrigger Canoe Surfing is a sport that involves riding waves in Hawaiian canoes. There will be an international competition of this unique sport, featuring teams from different parts of the world. This activity is held in partnership with Ocean Club Ericeira, the organizer of the international OC4 Surfing Challenge.

A surfing session led by the Surfit Terapêutica Association, with participation from social solidarity associations and institutions from the Greater Porto area.

During the three days of the festival, come and participate in the various free activities that will take place here.
From Yoga and Flow Together sessions to inspiring workshops on wooden surfboard shaping (by Yoni Surfboards), photography (by Insta 360), sustainability (by Vestas), and many others.
